Flutter 3.47 is out: Material and Cupertino as packages, iOS 15 minimum

What's new

  • Material and Cupertino as packages. material_ui and cupertino_ui 1.0 ship independently of the SDK, and you can opt in now.
  • Impeller on desktop. The default renderer on macOS, Windows and Linux instead of Skia, with no shader compilation jank.
  • Widget Previews graduated to stable.
  • Desktop: popup windows on Linux and Windows, sized-to-content windows, flavors for Windows and Linux.

What to watch out for

  • Minimum versions: iOS 15 instead of 13 and macOS 12 instead of 10.15. The UIScene lifecycle is mandatory for iOS 27 apps built with Xcode 27.
  • The Material and Cupertino libraries inside the SDK are scheduled for deprecation in the November release — don't postpone moving to the new packages.
  • Intel Mac support is winding down: the CLI already shows warnings.

How to upgrade

  1. Review the breaking changes for every version you skipped.
  2. Update plugins and check them against the new version.
  3. Run regression tests on real iOS and Android devices before submitting to the stores.

We upgrade mobile apps built with Flutter: we will estimate how many versions you are behind and which libraries need replacing, and ship the update to the App Store and Google Play.
